Good Friday Tre Ore Service
2 April 2010
The Tre Ore Service is a devotional service of meditations and prayers on the Seven Last Words our Lord Jesus Christ spoke from the Cross during the “three hours” (tre ore) between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m. as He was dying for us. During this Service we will watch and pray as Jesus bears the burden of our sin and death so that we might live in His peace now and forever.
You may remain for all seven devotions or take part in those for which you are able. The devotions will last 20 minutes, with a 5 minute organ interlude between each for private meditation and reflection and the opportunity to come and go as you wish. Please feel free to join us for part or all of the Service.
Our choir will be singing in parts 6 and 7.
12:00 p.m. - First Word – “Father, Forgive”
12:25 – Second Word – “Today, In Paradise”
12:50 - Third Word – “Behold, Your Son . . . Your Mother”
1:15 – Fourth Word – “Why Have You Forsaken Me?”
1:40 – Fifth Word – “I Thirst”
2:05 – Sixth Word – “It Is Finished”
2:30 – Seventh Word – “Into Your Hands”
*UPDATE: Audio recordings of each of the seven messages are available here.
