This cantata is a celebration of light. Filled with time-honored carols and expressive original songs, this work will dazzle and inspire. The first half of the cantata is dedicated to hopeful prophecies associated with the coming “Light of the World.” With the birth of Jesus, the second part moves forward to declare the tidings of great joy and is crowned with an opportunity for the congregation to join in singing, “Joy to the World.” Brant Adams and Robert Sterling shine as orchestrators of this truly festive work. Glorious!

This program will include songs such as: A Festive Call to Christmas; Celebration of Light; Come, Golden Light; Dazzling Joy; Beautiful Name; Dreamer of Stars; Angel Song; Silver and Shadows; Joyous Carols of Christmas.

Historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, has been well known for its music programming throughout its extensive history. The Christmas Cantata project began in 2008, with then music director Raymond Nikyuluw. Over the years the project grew and utilized the Centre In The Square for its most recent iterations. The goal of the Christmas Cantata is to spread the central Christmas message that Jesus has become man for our salvation, let us rejoice! At Historic St. Paul’s, we feel that music is a powerful and beautiful form for conveying this Good News of Christ. We hope that you will join us in our mission to spread the joy of Christmas this year by singing in the choir or supporting by attending the program on November 22nd!

This year's Christmas Cantata will be directed by current HSP music director Cameron Streicher. Cam graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor's in Music Education and Theory, and has extensive choral conducting experience working with anything from church choirs, community choirs, festival choirs; to various guest appearances with groups such as Laurier Alumni Choir and Chor Amica in London, ON. Through his directing, Cam aims for musical excellence while also focusing on the enjoyment and fulfilment that singing in a choir can provide.

Proceeds from our 2026 Christmas Cantata, will go to benefit our Historic St. Paul’s Affordable Housing development project, and a local charity to be announced shortly.

In late 2019, the members and leadership at Historic St. Paul’s, began an exercise to explore how our assets, including the building and property, could be better utilized to serve our members and our community. We have begun pre-construction activities on a 6 story Affordable Housing Building for Seniors, on our property. We have been approved to build 57 affordable housing units, which although covers only a fraction of the need, we believe will be a great blessing to our community.
